Here are a couple days worth of updates. It's hard to find time to finish my thoughts...
Monday:
Josiah is still in the NICU. He was off the billi lights last night and his bilirubin levels went up to 15.8 over 17 hours. We're disappointed to not be able to bring him home, but we are so thankful that this is a very treatable problem and we will have a great time with him at home soon. Thankfully, he is nursing great and having lots of wet and dirty diapers, all good things to help flush the bad stuff from his blood stream.
Tuesday:
We're ready to bring him home, but unfortunately, he is not. It looks like it's still going to be a couple days. His billi level only came down to 13.7 after 19 hours under the billi lights. We're bummed, but spending time in the NICU really brings perspective. His problem is dangerous if untreated, but with treatment, he should have no lasting effects. That's not true about many of the other babies there. So when you pray for Josiah, pray for all the premies that he
currently rooms with too. Many of them are quite literally fighting for their lives.
I'l be spending some time with him this morning while Silas is in school. I've been able to do 3 out of 4 day feedings and then bring in breast milk for his night feedings. It's weird being home without him, but we want to keep things more consistent for Silas, so this is best for now.
